Breakfast is, and has, always been my favorite meal of the day. Those people who skip breakfast confound me. I cannot comprehend the urge to skip a meal that is not only good for you, but so versatile and delicious!
I love pretty much all breakfast foods. You name it, chances are I love it!
Cereal, eggs, hashbrowns, skillets, fruit, toast, peanut butter, jams, scones, muffins, the list is endless. But what I have been eating lots of in the mornings lately is one of my all time favorites.
As a kid I didn’t eat much oatmeal, I definitely preferred toast or cereal. Usually raisin bran or something sugary.
But the older I get, the more I begin to appreciate the most basic of breakfasts. And when I say basic, I mean a basic that you can dress up any way you want it.
My favorite way is to make the oatmeal, put it on the bottom of the bowl. Then I put a ton of berries, usually strawberries and blueberries over top. Next I add honey and cinnamon and I’m good to go!
Another new favorite is to make the oatmeal, sprinkle cinnamon on it and then add a tsp of peanut butter.
My goodness adding peanut butter makes the oatmeal so beyond filling!
That’s another reason that I love oatmeal so much. It is so filling, good for you, gets me to eat more fruit and cinnamon, and keeps me full until lunch.
Win-win I’d say!
