As a blogger I often wake up to a lot of emails offering “free” things in exchange for a review, or discounts on products. More often than not I’m quick to hit the delete button as I find often times the “free” product or discount is not at all worth my time and effort. People often do not realize just how much goes into one little blog post.
As I was going through my inbox the other week one email did catch my eye. The email was from Modern Map Art and asked if I was interested in receiving a free star map in exchange for a review. Star maps have always intrigued me so I checked out the website. I loved the art! I quickly said yes please!
I decided to make my star map personal to myself and my love life (insert sappy eyes and maybe a puke face here). I have been living with my boyfriend for nearly four years, and I love it.
So I was thinking of important dates for us and kept going back to the night he asked me to be his girlfriend. We were driving to meet up with our friend, his best friend, at the cemetery near his house to take some photos of the moon (that may sound weird but it was the best place for the photos). On the way there Scott asked if I would be his girlfriend. My first response was “But we haven’t even kissed yet.” I am quite the romantic as you can see. Then we discussed how it would work as I would soon be moving to Australia.
At the cemetery the night sky was beautiful. The moon was huge and bright, and the weather perfect. We didn’t tell our friend about our car conversation but I’m sure he could pick up on our strange vibes.
After a fun night hanging out Scott drove me home, and I said yes to being his girlfriend. I’m so thankful I had him to Facetime every day in Australia as my living situation wasn’t the best, and he gave me the courage I needed to leave that bad situation. He supported my solo travel, and has supported me since.
So I thought that this star map print of the night sky over the cemetery that night was perfect.
The print is stunning. I was able to choose all of the details, from size, color, and font. The paper is quite thick and heavy, so make sure you have a frame. I purchased a frame for it and intended to take the photos of the print in the frame, however the frame arrived damaged. So the photos you are about to see are taken taped up on the wall. I am now hunting for a good quality frame that will fit this 24 X 36 poster.
The quality is great, but the only thing I must mention is that the print arrived a bit dusty. There seem to be some dust marks on the print that are a bit difficult to wipe off. You can see the markings in the photos. I’m hoping once I get my new frame I’ll figure out a way to get off the dust marks and we won’t even be able to tell 🙂
This print is very worth the money I think. Not only are star maps available, but so are city maps, ski maps, country maps. You can even get lake maps and scratch off maps. Check out the website for all of the diverse products!
Thank you so much to Jennifer at Modern Map Art, I love this star map!
If you could pick one type of map, what would you get?
As mentioned above this map was gifted to me in exchange for a review. All opinions, as always, as my own.
