It is currently Saturday night. I’m waiting for Scott to get home so we can watch Sicario and hopefully eat some nachos. My birthday was two days ago, August 3rd, and I thought that while I wait and listen to podcasts (As Told By Alex on Sound Cloud) I would tell you guys about how my 26th birthday and Friday night’s date night went. Hint, both were great!
I am now officially closer to 30 than 20 but to be honest, I’ve always been an old soul. So while I would love to stay in my early twenties a bit longer, mentally I’ve been in my thirties for a long time.
On my birthday I worked during the day from 8:30-5:30. I didn’t mind as I am a nanny to the coolest 2 year old I know. We spent the day playing at the park, napping, and going for a long walk. My employers gave me the most beautiful elephant card. When I got home I picked up some groceries, showered and then Scott came home and it was presents time.
He got me one of those fun little mystery packs that have a key chain. You don’t know what key chain you’re getting until you open it. I got a Harry Potter pack and I received a Hogwarts Express train key chain! I would have loved any of them that I could have gotten.
He also gave me some cute little containers to put snacks in for work. Some nose pore strips (we love to do them together), and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them the movie. So obviously we watched it that night 🙂 I love that movie!
The next evening, Friday, we had tickets to Yuk Yuk’s Queer as Jokes show in celebration of pride. For those who don’t know, Yuk Yuk’s is a Canadian Comedy Club.
Guys, THE SHOW WAS AMAZING AND THE MOST FUN WE’VE HAD OUT IN A WHILE!
Since it was my birthday they gave me a little bottle opener key chain, and we ordered some drinks and potato chips. For drinks I had Grower’s Pear Cider while Scott had Corona. You can tell I hardly drink anymore because after 3 drinks I was (more than) a bit tipsy. Oh well! This was our first time eating the potato chips. They were like thickly cut potato slices deep fried and salted. Ugh they were sooooo good. Very greasy, but delicious. They came with a ranch sauce the menu said, but it tasted more like 1000 islands dressing to me. I think I know what snack we’re getting next time we go back!
After the show we went for a little walk and since Scott picked up our tab at Yuk Yuk’s I bought us a few pizza slices. He got meat ones and I got a cheese slice and a veggie slice.
Then we headed home, drank water, ate our pizza while watching our favorite show Bones, and headed to bed.
Since I only had 3 drinks I woke up perfectly fine at a decent hour.
It was the perfect relaxed birthday home on Thursday, and the most fun date night on Friday.
