Two weeks ago my friend and I went for a good wander around Stanley Park. I’ve been to Stanley Park a few times before but this was my first time going in the pouring rain. Not going to lie, I found the walk in the rain to be very beautiful.
While walking around we decided to go find one of the lakes in the woods. We looked briefly at a map and decided to go find our way.
We wandered through giant trees until we found the lake.
I’m not certain but I think there may actually be a few lakes in Stanley Park? I say this because there were signs around the lake saying “Lake” pointing one way and other signs saying “Big Lake” another way. We were a tad confused!
We tried to follow the Big Lake sign but it led us nowhere…
We did find this lake though, and even though we are both scared of birds (don’t laugh!) we loved watching the ducks swim about.
There were a few geese blocking the trail the other way, so we walked the long way around the lake and stood watching the ducks swim for a little while.
We laughed about how it was obvious that these ducks had “Cliques”. There were the older birds napping together, the teenaged birds eating and chasing each other around, while annoying the older birds, and the baby birds swimming about eating as much as they could and playing.
It was adorable.
The pictures don’t do the lake justice.
Even though it was rainy and muddy, I could have stayed watching these ducks for hours!
Do you like duck ponds?
