It’s official. We have now been living here in Vancouver for a full year.
It really doesn’t feel like it’s been so long. I thought I would move here and hit the pavement running and explore the entire city and surrounds.
Well, that never happened.
It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that this city is huge, and with both Scott and I having begun work shortly after arriving, our days off together are quite rare.
What we have done is explore Stanley Park, our neighborhood, a bit of Burnaby, and a small bit of downtown.
I’ve been to Richmond, but only shopping.
Then I looked in my inbox last week and saw an email from a company called GPSmycity
GPSmycity is a website, and also an app (!) for iOS and Andriod devices.
This app has downloadable city guides for over 470 cities around the world, so I was pretty excited to see that Vancouver was one of the cities.
Well actually, I would have been surprised and disappointed if it wasn’t, since Vancouver is such a huge city.
I was offered a free full version of their Vancouver city guide, which gave me full access to everything Vancouver on the app.
With the free full version (the app is free, with in app purchases for the full version of different cities) I now have no excuse to not use these useful guides to explore my new (or not so new) city.
I was especially excited to see that one of the walking guides is for Mount Pleasant, which is my neighborhood!
Other guides I’m excited to try out are the Vancouver Orientation Walk, which takes about 4 hours, the Granville Island Walk, which is about an hour, and the Gastown Walk.
What’s great about this app is it maps out a walking route for you, tells you how many stops there are, and the approximate time it will take on average to do the walking tour.
You can also create your own custom walk, or hire someone to give you the tour, all just from the app.
Since I’m so excited about this app, GPSmycity has offered 20 of my readers a free promo code for a full version (which usually costs $4.99) of a city of their choice!
To enter to win, all you have to do is comment on this post and tell me which city you would be interested in checking out on foot.
Super simple 🙂
The contest ends on February 21st, 2016, and I will be reminding you all to enter at the end of each post until then!
I’m so excited to use this guide to check out the whole city !
