Stanley Park is a touch of nature in the city. Surrounded by water and with views of the mountains, this 405 hectare park is open to the public and is a beautiful forest within the city.
Home to the Vancouver Aquarium, horse drawn carriage rides, a lake, a water park for children, there is always something going on.
The day after my friend Anna arrived from Toronto we headed to Stanley Park.
Even though it was raining we knew we wanted to walk along the seawall, so we brought along umbrellas!
When we arrived we looked around the harbor with the views of the city. I must say, it is gorgeous.
Then we took to the walking path and walked up along the seawall. The seawall is really beautiful. Fun Fact: If you’ve seen 50 Shades of Grey, the beginning of the movie when Christian is running, that is the area we were walking!
Whenever I’ve been to the park, I always end up going to see the Totem Poles that are there. They are one of BC’s most visited attraction, which makes perfect sense. Just look at them!
I love finding out the story that each totem pole represents.
We walked along the seawall for about 40 minutes. During that time we saw a wild otter! I was so excited I could barely speak. I started pointing trying to talk but it didn’t really work haha. The entire time all I kept thinking was, about 100 feet away from this wild otter, there were otters in the Aquarium. Random thoughts.
Next we decided to wander into the woods to find a lake that we had seen a sign for.
The lake would have been beautiful in the summer. As it was dark and raining out it wasn’t spectacular, but still really cool. I have never seen so many ducks together!
After standing and staring at the ducks for a while and joking about how they were clearly in groups (you could tell who were the adults, who were the teenagers and who were the babies) we walked in the woods, getting lost but taking beautiful photos.
Altogether we only walked for about two hours, but we took so many photos!
Stanley Park is really a gorgeous place to explore. If you’re ever in Vancouver, Stanley Park is a must do!
Have you ever been to Stanley Park?
Do you still go out walking in the rain?
