I have never been a soda drinker. I like ginger ale, but usually only drink a bit when sick. I hate the taste of bubbles and don’t like the way they feel in my stomach or throat. So when going out to restaurants I was always an iced tea drinker. Since switching to a vegetarian diet though I have found that most iced teas I get are much too sweet for me to drink, and not everywhere has unsweetened drinks. In comes my favorite homemade green tea iced tea recipe!
Since I can’t control how much sugar companies put in their iced teas that they sell, the best solution is to make my own for a hot summers day when all I want is a cool drink.
I’m known for being only a coffee, tea and water drinker (and wine, hello wine!), but every now and then I want some different flavors!
Since green tea is my favorite I knew my homemade recipe would have to be made with green tea. I have a cupboard filled with different types, but have narrowed it down to a few favorites.
Homemade Green Tea Iced Tea
- 1 teabag green tea I used decaf but caffeinated is fine too!
- 1 teabag other flavor green tea My favorite is blueberry or pomegrante
- 1/3 cup sugar More or less to taste. 1/3 cup is more than enough for me.
- 1 lemon squeezed or sliced in
Bring kettle of water to a boil
While kettle boils add sugar and tea bags to juice jug
When kettle is near boiled add water to juice jug. (Tip, if the jug is glass add a spoon to the jug before pouring the water so the jug doesn't crack)
Let steep for 5-10 minutes
Add in lemon
This recipe is so simple but so delicious and one I will be making over and over this summer!
