We live in a time where it is practically impossible to be bored, yet people somehow still manage to be “bored” all the time.
With cell phones, internet, TV, games, everything, we do not even know what boredom is.
I don’t know about you, but when I have a Netflix binge I also have my laptop on reading blogs, while also simultaneously doing a good old Instagram scroll.
No wonder my brain rarely shuts off.
We need to turn off EVERYTHING and just sit there. Just let our minds truly relax. I tell myself that when I read I’m allowing my mind to relax, but no, I’m really not because now my mind is focused on the words I’m reading, creating an image in my mind, making sure my body is comfortable, and worrying whether or not I’m holding the book too close to my face, do I need to hold my arms out further? Well now my arms are sore…
I guess what this post is trying to say is I need to try to “truly” shut off more often. Sometimes I’ll tell myself I’m taking a internet break, but then find myself using the internet on my phone…Cheater.
What ways do you truly shut off?
I go for walks which definitely helps but my mind is still going.
How do you turn it all off and just relax?
