Confession time. I may or may not have a strong caffeine addiction. Okay, the answer is yes, I do indeed have a strong caffeine addiction!
I have always liked coffee and tea, but have always been more of a tea drinker. Even though lots of teas have caffeine, I always opted for the decaf tea, especially since I love to drink lots of tea at night.
When I was in university working on shows, I would drink like 8 cups of coffee a day. The reason for this being that between working full time, school full time, trying to meal prep, trying to do homework, and working on shows, I slept for about 2-4 hours a night for months on end.
Is that healthy? Absolutely not. But I had no other option if I wanted to get everything done that needed to be done.
Once I graduated university I cut out caffeine completely, only having the occasional cup of coffee or caffeinated tea.
Back in October I was put on medication that made it REALLY hard to wake up in the morning and started drinking lots of coffee. Since I missed having tea so much I also bought a lot of caffeinated tea.
When I realized I was drinking too much caffeine I decided to cut way back. I now only allow myself two cups of coffee and one caffeinated tea a day, but most days I try to not go that hard, opting for decaf instead.
I get headaches on days when I try to skip caffeine altogether, but I like caffeine, so that doesn’t happen too often 😉
This weeks photo Friday is this gorgeous mug of dreams that my mother got me for my birthday!
She asked me my favorite colors (black and purple!) and her friend from work made this mug for me. I love it so much and appreciate it even more because her friend made it. I love being able to support someone’s creativity, so the fact that this was made for me as opposed to purchased at a chain store makes me so happy!
I am very specific about which mugs I use for tea and which mugs I use for coffee. (I know I’m weird). It took me a while to decide what beverage this mug would hold.
Even though I usually like really big coffee mugs I just knew that this mug was meant to hold my morning coffee 🙂
I always think that if possible, support your local artists. They work so hard to create one of a kind items for you, and you will end up with something spectacular.
I love this mug SOOOO much and use it every day, so thank you mom for getting your friend to create this for me 🙂
