Now that it is unbearably hot and everyone is speaking of their summer heatwaves there are only a few things I have been wanting to eat and drink. Salad, watermelon, lots of water, and smoothies. I’ve even been struggling with my morning coffee each day (not a fan of cold brew). So, while I still try to drink my coffee, I have also been having a smoothie for my breakfast lately.
What better way to start the day than with a nutrient packed smoothie? Nice and cold and filling, perfect!
The lovely thing about smoothies is that they are so versatile. You can literally put whatever you like in a blender and blend it up and there you have it!
While there are so many different delicious smoothie recipes out there, I have my own recipe that is my current go to summer smoothie.
Berry Delicious Summer Smoothie
- 1 tsp Chia Seeds
- 1 tsp Hemp Hearts
- 1 tsp Honey
- 1/2 cup Frozen Berries (Mine has raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries and strawberries)
- 1 Banana (Fine either frozen or fresh)
- 1/2 cup Fresh Blueberries
- 1/2 cup Almond Milk
- Water as needed
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend!
Personally I add the banana, then the seeds, then the berries, then the honey and then the liquid. But anyway is fine!

This smoothie recipe is so easy, delicious and filling.
Chia seeds are a good source of fiber, protein, antioxidants, Omega-3 fatty acids and iron.
Hemp hearts are a good source of protein (30 grams contain more protein than a boiled egg), Omega-3 fatty acids for muscle and joint repair (amazing for after a workout) and essential amino acids.
Honey for sweetness, but also antioxidants and helps with cholesterol.
Berries because they are delicious, in season and packed with antioxidants and fiber.
