I have been wanting a bookshelf since we moved into our apartment nearly three years ago. However, it was just one of those things that kept getting pushed back. We don’t have much free space, so the shelf needed to be small enough. We found one from IKEA that we loved, but the $29 shelf became $140 after shipping. And taking the shelf onto the crowded bus? No thanks!
When I started my new job my boss and I were talking about IKEA and I mentioned the shelf. She told me to send her a picture and her next trip she would try it pick it up for me.
Last weekend, she did!
My new bookshelf – finally! I feel as though I had been waiting so long (well, three years is long technically) and I am so appreciative of her for doing this for me. I told her she made my weekend. Which she did.
Scott told me not to try to set it up by myself, we would do it together when we had time.
When I got home Tuesday evening there was a surprise, he had set it up by himself and put all of the movies I wanted on it. Yay!
He did good. He set it up EXACTLY how I had imagined. Honestly it’s as though he read my mind or something.
The top of the bookshelf has some of our little figurines.
The top row has my Disney movies, and Rocky Series.
The second row is our horror movies that we watch most often (we still have about 200 movies in our closet).
The third row is Harry Potter and often watched TV series.
The fourth row is a display for some box sets.
The bottom row is books – Harry Potter and horror.
I am so obsessed with this shelf it’s sort of embarrassing. I keep looking over at it and smiling. Something so simple has made my life so much easier. I now no longer have lots of books and movies fall on my head when I go in the closet to get something. The closet looks so much better. The desk isn’t crammed with whatever book I’m reading and all of the figurines we have.
It looks really good, and I am so proud of Scott for setting it up so good, for surprising me, and for my boss who picked it up for me and brought it to my place. Seriously, how nice!
We are always adding to our ever growing movie collection so the shelf will change. More Disney and horror will be added. I cannot wait to keep updating it!
What do you think?
Did he do good?
How would you style your shelf?
