For Valentine’s this year, Scott and I didn’t really have anything planned.
The first year we were together I was in Australia.
The Second year we were together we had just moved to Vancouver and I’m pretty sure we just got some pizza and watched movies.
This year we both were working during the day.
I was working 8-4:30, and he was working 10-6. Not too bad.
I told him a few weeks ago that I got him a small present, but it wasn’t anything too special. He moaned and said “I didn’t realize we were even going to do anything this year” and went on to give a speech about why the day was stupid.
Okay bud. (insert eye roll here)
Sure, we’re always getting each other little gifts and showing our love and appreciation for each other all the time, but I still thought getting him a little gift was cute.
Then a few days before the day, he told me he got me some things too now, and they were things I would use.
My present was just a cheap figurine, not something usable.
So I decided to buy some alcohol. The way to a man’s heart I think.
After work on the big day, I stopped by the grocery store to pick up ingredients to make spaghetti (just my favourite food ever, and he loves my spaghetti).
While cooking I snacked on some pineapple to tide over my rumbling belly. I love pineapple.
So I whipped up a batch of spaghetti, and made some garlic bread as well. I usually make too much spaghetti, but I must say, this time I made the perfect amount 🙂
I tried to photograph the spaghetti. In no way were the pictures looking appetizing. Sorry guys, but no.
Before digging in to dinner, we exchanged gifts.
These are the little gifts that I got for Scott. He is a huge Jack Daniels & Guinness fan, yet we rarely ever have any in the house. Also Milk Duds because yum, and a Joker figurine.
For me he got me a book I’ve been dying to get (he seems to buy me all of my books these days, good guy) and a couple chocolates.
I really don’t know which chocolate I love more; my obsession M&M’s, or the Lindt. So melt in your mouth delicious!
We decided to watch a few movies.
We watched The Heart Break Kid, with Ben Stiller. Darkness Falls, a horror movie that I haven’t seen since a birthday party when I was 13. And The Purge. I was disappointed in The Purge, because I wasn’t spooked once, and guessed everything that was about to happen.
Or maybe I just watch too many horror movies?
It was such a nice Valentine’s day evening, and I’m glad we were able to do something together 🙂
