Even though I love autumn, and have always loved autumn, and even though October has always been my favourite month, I have never loved it quite as much as I did this past October.
That could be due to the fact that I had the month of October off work for medical leave, so I had the time to de-stress and get more in tune with myself.
Halloween has always been one of my favourite holidays. It’s tied with Christmas, but both come after Easter (weird I know, but I make my boyfriend do an Easter egg hunt for me and it’s so fun!). But this year I was in such a Halloween spirit. I don’t think I’ve ever been more in the spirit than I was this year.
I loved it!
Here are some things that I just loved this past October
Daily long walks. Compared to Ontario I didn’t think Vancouver would have such an amazing autumn scene, but boy was I wrong. There are leaves everywhere. Literally. I cannot take a step without hearing that beautiful crunching sound under my feet. The colors of the leaves are so bright, and the leaves over the lawns of decorated houses are just stunning.
Sitting on my balcony reading. The weather has cooled considerably so I have to bundle up, but the air is so crisp and fresh it’s worth it. The views I’m getting to see everyday aren’t too bad either. Each day the leaves are brighter than before, and the sky has developed such a personality. Every view is different.
Watching every Halloween movie that I can find. This month I have watched so many Halloween themed movies, just a few are the Scream movie series and TV series, Casper, The Adam’s Family movies, Rob Zombie’s version of the Halloween movies. The past few days alone I have watched the entire Halloween Town series, Hocus Pocus, The Halloween Tree, Little Monsters. (I have had a lot of time on my hands) Tonight Scott and I will continue our tradition of every Halloween watching the Nightmare on Elm Street series. We are starting on the fifth movie this time.
Discovering a few new TV shows. We were late to the game on both of these, but we became completely hooked on The Following. Kevin Bacon is a dream in this. I have had more messed up dreams than ever, so watching this before bed makes my mind very active in sleep, but it’s so addicting it’s hard to turn it off. Kevin Bacon plays Ryan Hardy, an ex FBI agent who is brought back into action when a prisoner that he locked away escapes. Bad description, but essentially everything comes undone after Joe being in prison for eight years escapes, and the police realise that they are dealing with a deadly cult. This show is beyond addictive! Everyone should watch it!
The other show we just started is Once Upon a Time. People have been telling me to watch this for years now. I just never listened. But we just started it and now all I want to do is watch it. Netflix makes it too easy. I love fairy tales, and I can tell I’ll soon become addicted to this show too, if I’m not already.
I cannot wait for next October to see what it brings!
