PEI The Land of Potatoes & Anne

When you think of PEI, or Prince Edward Island, what do you think of? For me it has always been the famed potatoes and Anne of Green Gables.

When my parents told me that we would be spending a night in PEI during my visit, I knew that the only two things that needed doing was visiting Cavendish, were Lucy Maud Montgomery lived and wrote the Anne of Green Gables novels, and I needed to eat a potato.

We left mid morning that day, as the drive To PEI was approximately 3 hours.

The drive was gorgeous. Both New Brunswick and PEI are both very beautiful and lush green provinces.

When I saw the bridge to PEI I was ecstatic! I was smiling the entire drive and looking every which way I could.

We drove through PEI and I couldn’t help but fall in love with how green everything was. All of the potato fields, the adorable farm houses. Every the touristy areas were adorable.

Adopt me now PEI?? I can be from the East Coast, I’m sure.

When I saw the town “Cavendish” pop up, I knew exactly where we were going. To Green Gables! Only my childhood dream come true!

Here is the house that Lucy Maud Montgomery loved and based Green Gables off of. She herself lived on a farm close by.

Get ready for a ton of photos!

How gorgeous is this house and yard? There was even an Anne dressed up and walking around. I may have gotten a photo with her 🙂

Here is the wall paper in some of the house. I loved it!

Can I PLEASE have this kitchen? It is so cute and picturesque! I love the stove, all of the jars and details. It is exactly how I imagine a beautiful farmhouse to be. I’m pretty sure if this was my kitchen I would never want to leave!

I could have spent forever looking at each bedroom. The details, like this broken chalk board, were so intriguing to look at. It was hard to look away and continue on. If there weren’t other people behind me, or my family waiting, I could have spent hours here.

Sorry, told you it was photo heavy.

How beautiful is Green Gables though?!

We also visited the site of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s home, and walked the trails here, but so as to not make this post insanely long, I will be putting those in separate posts.

This was honestly a dream come true to come here, and I loved being in PEI so much.

Since potatoes is in the name of this title let me tell you. We bought a bag of potatoes that we brought home with us to cook. The hype is right. PEI potatoes are actually the best potatoes ever.

Have you ever been here? PEI? Green Gables? What would be your childhood dream come true?

  1. Oh my gosh I think I’d have cried. I adore Anne!!! It was one of my absolute favourite books to read when I was growing up. I didn’t realise that the house was actually a real one though!! That’s AMAZING. So cool that you got to visit! 😀 xx
