Last week I wrote about how excited I was to leave the prairies and see snow after a very dull day. This photo here was the day before we arrived in Vancouver, and how we drove through these misty mountains. Aren’t they gorgeous?
I have always loved mountains. I find something so calming about them, almost like my love affair with trees, but in a bigger way.
And even better? These are the famous Rocky Mountains, and they are more beautiful than anyone could ever describe.
During this drive the van we rented had one of it’s windshield wipers stop working. Of course it would happen on the side of a mountain, with a VERY dirty windshield. Such fun!
Apart from that little mishap though, driving through the mountains was so special. I hadn’t driven through the mountains in about 5 years, and that had been a quick trip.
This time though I was seated in the passenger seat with a perfect view. I mean, just look at it!
I was in awe with how there was mist hanging around us and the mountains, and how every now and then there would be a break in the mist and we would be rewarded with views that I had never seen before.
It was such a perfect travel day. I would happily do it again.
I really hope sometime within the next year or two we can go on another road trip to Banff and spend some more time getting to explore the mountains in Alberta.
I love how every time I look out my window I can see the green mountains but let’s be real, seeing them from your window is very different from driving through them and being completely surrounded and peaceful 🙂
Do you love road trips? Or do you prefer to fly?
