I could have sworn that I already wrote this post. I swear I remember adding in photos and writing all about the deliciousness that is the food at Biercraft, Cambie St. But looking in my posts and drafts folders, nope, nadda, zilch. No post. So here I go again!
When we first moved to Vancouver I saw Biercraft when out for a walk one day. I think the thing that drew me in most wasn’t actually the restaurant itself, but the little old school barber shop next door. The two shops blended in together effortlessly, complimenting each other.
I told Scott that we needed to go sometime, but it was just one of those things that we never got around to doing.
Rewind about two months ago and Scott came home, excited to tell me about the amazing Braised Beef Mac & Cheese he had eaten for dinner while out with some friends.
Hmmm, that sounded familiar, thought I.
He told me he went to this cool place close by called Biercraft. I just stood there, giving him my famous death glare. He shrunk back, not sure what he had done. Well, at least now I knew that the food was delicious.
A couple Friday nights ago we decided to go try it out together. There was about a half an hour wait, but to me, a wait is a good thing. If a place has a wait then we know that the food is worth waiting for.
We were seated and given water and a bowl of cumin popcorn to snack on while deciding our orders. I love cumin but never thought to put it on popcorn. It was so good! Definitely something I need to try the next time I make my favorite snack.
Scott went with the Braised Beef Mac & Cheese again, while I went with the veggie burger and fries. The veggie burger came with mushrooms, but since I despise those little nasty things I got avocado instead.
While waiting for our food I sipped a ginger beer and reminisced about all the ginger beers I drank in Australia.
All the food coming out of the kitchen looked delectable.
Our orders arrived and Scott excitedly dug in to his mac & cheese, exclaiming about how it was just as good as last time.
I bit into my veggie burger…..and oh my goodness.
New favorite veggie burger from a restaurant, absolutely. The fries were great as well, but that burger was divine.
We ended up sitting in silence most of the meal, because we were both too busy eating our incredible dishes, and who has time to talk when the food is that good?
We went home, stuffed and content.
The next night we had plans to make stir fry for dinner. Just before I went to get started I mused out loud how I was craving that veggie burger again.
Scott quickly jumped in and said he would love to try something new on the menu.
We quickly made ourselves presentable and hurried over, only to get seated immediately.
I ordered the same veggie burger, but this time with half fries/half salad.
Scott switched things up and went for the Taquitos. Beer and chili braised beef brisket, he was in heaven. They looked exquisite and he hasn’t stopped raving about them since, so I take that as a great sign!
I’m pretty sure this is needless to say but we both rate Biercraft a 10/10. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and the servers are personable and work really hard. Also, Biercraft reignited my love for ginger beer, so A+ I say!
